Rain.... Rain.... GO AWAY!!!
So fed up with the weather this week!! We better get some sun this summer or i'm emigrating!!! BOOOO HOOOO!!
Gammmessss :O
I thought we had walked into the wrong class last week for ICT. The room was set up with just game consoles.... X-box Kinect, Wii Fit, Play Station 2.... However Mandy explained that we were going to play the games and think about how they could be used in Education. Using a sheet prepared by Mandy were were asked to think about how the games could help develop basic, physical and problem solving skills. It was quite surprising that many of the games we played could actually be beneficial in an educational setting. It was interesting to look at playing games in a different way, other than just for pleasure. Although there was a purpose to this lecture I can't help thinking that Mandy just wanted to giggle at us looking like idiots kicking, hurdling and hitting mid air whilst playing on the wii fit and Kinect!! he he x

The rest of my week..... now that i'm over my little rant!
Had quite a busy week so far, been to the gym three times, nearly completed the third season of Dexter (i'm seriously addicted,) went to big pit with Uni yesterday and now in ICT apparantly we are going to make a computer game today.... hmmm i'm intregued! Big Pit: i don't think Pam and Judith could have picked a worse day for the trip it was FREEZING, raining and windy!! Not the best combination of weather for a trip to a coal mine!! Not a massive fan of cold dark spaces so me and a few of the girls spent the majority of the trip looking around the museum which was quite interesting!! The funniest part of the day was the car journey home, we drove over a cattle grid. Lucy asked what would happen to a sheep if it got stuck in a cattle grid. Knowone knew so we decided to google it. Google told us that... "sheep seldom get stuck in cattle grids, they have been known to bypass them by rolling over them" ha ha ha.... Good old internet never fails to amuze me!! Enough said. Time to learn how to make a computer game now.....Traaaa traaa!!!
Grrrrrrrr!!!!
I'm not in the best of moods this morning after receiving football tickets for the Spurs game on Saturday, which i bought as a Christmas present for my boyfriend, i searched for hours on the Internet for tickets as they are like golddust and are ridiculously priced!!! Eventually after coming to terms with the fact that they were going to cost me at least £100 each i bought them only to find when i received the tickets this morning they actually cost £35 each!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH NOT HAPPY!! I knew there was a reason why i have always hated football!!!

The 'great' debate
Well there's nothing like a debate to wake 2b up on a thursday morning(well thoes who attended anyway!!) Personally I feel that our argument 'for' gaming in eductaion was stronger and the proof is in the pudding because we won!! woop woop!!
I really enjoyed the debate, it made me think in deoth about the different arguments surrounding gaming in education, as children activiely choose to play games then i think that educators should be using this to their advantage. Games can be used as an excellent way for learners to enage with subjects.
Watch this space!!

Trafalgar Origins.... BOOOOOM
A game about tactics and history... Initially i found this game fun but as the levels got harder I began to get frustrated. I think this was due to the short amount of time we were given to play the game. If given longer i think it would have become easier and more enjoyable.
BETT
Our first ICT lesson after visiting BETT. What an amazing place and a great opportunity to see the types of software and hardware around that help support learning. The size of the place was overwhelming. I found the 3D learning stand brilliant and think that it would be a really effective way to teach and get pupils to really realte to a subject. The second day we visited the Natural History Museum and spent a few hours wandering around learning about evolution and the dinosaurs which was really interesting!
